Low refrigerant is a symptom of a leak more often than a personality trait. Adding gas without finding the hole is how you buy the same job twice in one Houston summer. We will say when a recharge is even in the conversation and when it is a waste.
Sealed-system work and parts lead times are not a same-hour promise on every car. A performance check often is. Call with year, make, model, and whether it died suddenly or faded over weeks.

Texas inspection is $18.50 drive-in. A/C is not the emissions test — but a check-engine light from a related fan or sensor will fail OBD. If you hoped to inspect and also get cold air the same morning, say both jobs up front: inspection.
Year, make, model, and whether the air died overnight or faded. “Warm only at idle on Highway 6” is a different clue from “never cold after a recharge last month.” If someone already added dye or a can from a parts store, say that — leftover dye and overcharge both confuse the next test. If the blower is weak on one speed, that is cabin electrical, not only refrigerant. If you hear a rattle from the condenser after a rock on West Bellfort, mention it before we guess at a compressor.
